Beeswax Candle Care Tips!
The first time you burn your beeswax candle you should allow the melted wax to pool to the edge before you extinguish it. This will prevent tunneling.
Depending on the size of your candle it should be burned roughly 1 hour per inch at a time to prevent tunneling. A good way to calculate this is a 3” pillar = 3 hour burn time.
ALWAYS trim your wick to 1/4 inch or 5 mm before burning. The length of the wick is important for the longevity of your candle. The wick has natural curves being that it is hemp, when the wax is soft you can adjust your wick placement if needed by pushing it gently towards the center of the candle.
The safest way to extinguish your candle is to safely push the wick, using a toothpick or orange stick for example, into the melted wax surrounding it. This avoids smoke and releasing a burnt scent into the air.
If your beeswax candle “blooms” which is when a whitish film casts over the outside of the candle, you can simply polish it off with a soft lint free cloth. This is a natural process of 100% pure beeswax candles when the softer oils naturally go to the surface and perfectly normal!
